Nels Melander, 81, Port Angeles resident 38 years, died Saturday evening after an extended illness. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday with Port Angeles Aerie of Eagles in charge at the Mt. Angeles Cemetery. Burial will be under the direction of the Harper Funeral Home. Mr. Melander was born in Mor- rum, Sweden, April 12, 1876. He came, to the United States in. 1895 and worked for the Great Northern Railroad as a construction foreman and bridge builder in Minnesota.- - , • • Coming west in 1898, he worked on railroads out of Seattle and in Canada. Following an accident in which he lost a leg, he came here in 1919 and for many years sold clothing to Olympic Peninsula loggers . Since the end of World War II, he lived in a small house on the Angeles Gravel and Supply Co., dock. , , He was a member of the Port Angeles. Aerie, of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Surviving are several, half brothers and sisters, among whom are .two brothers, Otto Melander, Seattle, and Ralph Melander, New York City and two half sisters in Sweden.
