I have looked some more in the Millitary records and I found out that Anders Larsson became a Soldier in August 30 1758 after the corporal Per Pållack had died in Pommern Germany earlier that Spring (SE/KrA/0023/0/570 Västgöta-Dals Regemente 1767 Picture 161 page 285 (SVAR)). At the Regements inspection 1785 (SE/KrA/0023/0/571 Picture 431)  he is noted as "Bräcklig och svag och får avsked/ Fragile and weak and he is discharged". You didn't have to do anything wrong to get discharged just be to old or sick to continue to be a soldirer. As for the name Pållack/Pålack/Pollack. Polack today in Sweden means  a person from Poland but because he was a Soldier he could have that name even though he was born in Dalsland Sweden. The name Pållack in Grinstad was connected to the croft, not a family.

If I have the time later today I can take a look in the marriage records and see if I can find his first marriage and see were he came from. Or perhaps you have access to them yourself?
