Hi Corina In 1880 I found 33 Gullin in Sweden. 10 were born in Guldrupe, so it must be the reason of the name Gullin. Before 1900 it was usual for military and craftsman to take name of places. I think the pronounce is more like girl but not so open if you know what I mean. I have been thinking of english word with same pronounce but can´t find any.
