To be declared unfit for military (conscript) service was the goal for many (perhaps, most) young men when they mustered. So quite minor problems were played up. The reason for disqualification might be something rather insignificant like flat feet, which normally wouldn't bother anyone in civilian life.
There are quite detailed muster rolls for conscripts from 1886 onwards, but I don't know if any medical details for those declared unfit were recorded (and those records kept).
