Congratulations Dianne! I had also been searching for Paul Hedlund for some time. I think of that scene in Bo Widerberg's film Joe Hill where Joe is standing on a hill calling for his brother Palle. The disappearing brother Paul has long been a mystery. I cannot help but speculate that part of the reason that even Joe lost contact with his relatives in Sweden, was because of Paul wanting to keep a low profile because of bigamy. Indeed it was not until Ture Nerman's book came out in the late 1940's that it really became known on both sides of the Atlantic that Joe Hill was Joel Hägglund from Gävle.
Carin Olofsson has helped me trying to track down Joe's companion Otto Appelqvist. When Bill's new book about Joe Hill comes out next year, solving the mystery of whatever happened to Otto may become more important.
