Had murder in his mind. A Swede Attacks an Officer With a Slungshot. Axel Gjerling, a powerfully built young Swede, who lives at 143 High street, at about 10 o'clock last night was lounging at the corner of Alabama and Falton avenues. Sergeant Nicholaus Condon of the Seventeenth precinct requested him to move on, but he stood his ground. When the sergeant commanded him to leave the corner the Swede drew a slungshot from his overcoat pocket and made a vicious blow at the officer. Condon disarmed him and this morning was held by Justice Haggerty in the Gates avenue police court on charge of carrying concealed weapons. He pleaded not guilty.
