It is possible that the Axel L. I found on the Ellis Island site is the one you are looking for. I figured that based on his age, he would have been born in 1895, and he was born in December 1894 according to the information you have.
If you search on his name Axel Gustafsson you can view the manifest. i found that the pages are out of order and to see the entry for Axel, you have to look at the previous page from the one that you are sent to first.
I do not have access to the Census, so I cannot help any further in that respect.
