Two angles on this. Have you tried to order a copy of Anna Carlson's death certificate. If the informant is one of the children, as often is, you might gain another piece of the puzzle. Informants are often given with adresses. You might even get daughter Anna's name as married, another chance to make the jump to current times.
Fastest way is probably to contact the Lake county clerk. From this page it doesn't look there's going to be a problem.
In the SSDI I found what must be Harold:
HAROLD CARLSON b. 07 Mar 1911 d. Oct 1971 (not specified) (none specified) 342-01-6911 Illinois
Although last residence isn't listed, it shouldn't be impossible to get hold of a copy also here, giving a close relative of his.
