Peter From and Greta Andersdotter are not the parents of Mats From but rather of his wife. In Ramnäs AI:8, p 42, Mats is listed as mågen (son-in-law) Mats (Westerberg) From.
Peter From's birth place is said to be Leksand.
Färnebo is most probably the nearby parish of Västerfärnebo. As both Westerberg and From are soldiers' names, you shouldn't expect finding either of them in his birth record, so if you can't track him backwards through the household records, it may be quite difficult to locate him in Västerfärnebo. Quite a few boys by the name of Mats were born there in 1780 and thereabouts.
