I apologize for not corresponding in Swedish, but I am writing from Canada. I have been researching my family history for about 4 years now. In the last few months, I have been able to access Swedish church records through Genline, and have been able to begin to document the family of my Swedish grandmother, Walborg Helfrida Fogelgren.
Helfrida was born in Stockholm, but her father, August Fogelgren,was from Vägatorp village (Nilstorp farm) in Lekäsa. He was the son of Johannes Svensson (b. 1819 Mellby) and Helena (Lena) Nilsdotter. They had 7 children:
1) Anna Maria Fogelgren (b. 1846)--married Otto Wilhelm Sandberg (saddlemaker); 1890/1900 census in Lidköpings 2) Christiana Fogelgren (b. 1848, d. 1851) 3) August Fogelgren (b. 1852, d. 1888 in Stockholm)--married Hulda Christina Carlsson 4) Anna Greta (b. 1854)--married Hilmer Johan Sjolin (tile stove maker); 1890/1900 Swedish census in Slöta, Rännefalen 5) Anders Gustaf (b. 1856, d. 1857) 6) Augusta Fogelgren (b. 1858)--1900 Swedish census shows her running the Hotel Royale in Säffle, By parish 7) Johan Petter (b. 1849, d. 1857)
August Fogelgren died at age 36. His wife's sisters brought all of his children to the United States, where they had settled.
I am interested in connecting with any descendants of Johannes and Lena in order to share information and perhaps photos! Also, I am planning a trip to Sweden and will be in Lidköping from August 27th to August 29th. I would love to see the family farm (or what is left of it), if anyone is willing to help!
