There is actually a Carl Gustaf born in Malmbäck, Älgaryd, 1833-11-05. He is renamed Carl Johan the same year when the family move to Åsen in Markaryd. After one year in Ödestugu, they return to Malmbäck, Södra Hiarum in 1839. His father Nils Israelsson dies in 1845, and his brother Johannes is the farmer from 1846. Carl Johan Nilsson is a farmhand at this place and at other farms in Malmbäck or the close surroundings until 1865-03-30, when he moves to Norra Amerika. He takes the name Malmberg some time from 1861 to 1865. This should be your Carl Johan Malmberg. I could send details by e-mail, what do you want, do you read the church records yourself?
