My grandmother's mother was born in Eksjö stads, Jönköping on 11 Nov 1840. She was the illegitimate daughter of Maja Stina Carlsdotter and was given the name Betty Maria /Byloff/. An old letter from Sweden says Elisabeth's father was a priest with surname Bulow and Maria was his maid. He wanted to marry her but she didn't think she was good enough. Maria gave their daughter his surname Bulow and the priest gave her money so mother and child shouldn't suffer. I have found in the Husförhörslängd records of Eksjö stads the lives of Maja Stina and Betty Maria. I have looked for the father's name Byloff or Bulow in the Husförhörslängd and court records for Eksjö stads and lands but find no record. I do not know if the priest was Roman Catholic, Episcopal, Lutheran, or other. How would I find his full name, place of birth, and birthdate on some church roster from 1840? Thank you Tom
