Hello, Some of my Swedish ancestors who are documented in Väsby and Färingtofta have the surname Pihl. I'm interested in learning more about the history of this name - I understand it means arrow and is often associated with military professions. How did that work, was a distant ancestor in the military, given this surname, and then passed it on to his descendants? Also, it seems like these families didn't use the usual patronymic system but rather passed down the name Pihl through the generations - why was that? Finally, I have traced many of the descendants of my Pihl ancestors after they arrived in the United States, so I may be able to help those who are looking for this information. Thank you, Adham
