Greetings! I am hoping someone may be able to find a clue or lead. The story my great grandfather August (or Augustus) Lind told, was that he came to the US when he was 14yo as a stowaway on a ship. The few hints he did give were that he was a cousin of Jenny (Maria Goldschmidt) Lind, and we think he may have had a brother named Emil. The 1900 US census has his birth year as about 1852, and arriving in the US in 1865.
I did find an Emil Lind in the Sweden, Births from the Swedish Death Index, 1901-2006 that could be a possible clue: Name: Emil August Lind Birth Date: 23 sep 1850 Birth Place: Gillberga, Värmland, Sverige (Sweden)
I am starting to think he may have been a runaway or orphan who simply took the name Lind when he arrived in America, but I haven't lost all hope yet!
