Hej, I would appreciate help with translation of a birth record from the Kristianstad/Simrishamn parish births 1761-1813, GID 1699.30.88200. The fourth one on the page, 16 Sep 1766 is a child named Reinholt. I can read the first few words: födde och samma dag döpte (born and the same day baptised) but then I can't read any of the next few words until nämnet Reinholt, (named Reinholt). Also can you read the first name of the woman listed immediately after this who has the surname Nilsdotter -- would this be his mother? I know that the text that follows is the godparents and witnesses.

Thank you Yvonne -- I think you are correct. This particular church book is a nightmare between the pages that are nearly illegible, and the fact that it frequently changes forward and backward by year, and also changes whether births, weddings, or deaths were recorded.
I have a theory that this individual is Reinholt Rasmusson, who is documented in the Södra Mellby/Kristianstad household examination books starting in 1818 as having been born in Simrishamn on 16 Sep 1767 -- exactly one year before this Reinholt, but there was no other Reinholt born on 16 Sep 1767 in the parish. However given Yvonne's translation that the child was in delicate health at birth, I reviewed the death records for Simrishamn and found a Reinholt who died on 25 Aug 1767 (GID 1699.30.893) although I believe it says that this person was 28 years old.
I would be very interested in any opinions as to whether the child born on 16 Sep 1766 was Reinholt Rasmusson or was a different Reinholt who died about one year later.

Translated, 'Aug 23 died Carpenter Nils Rosenlöfs Son Petter. 25 died the same mans Son Reinhold, both his children berried the 28 of August.'

Bo, many thanks. I have looked again in the birth records and found that Nils Rosenlöf's son Reinhold was born on 13 Aug 1755, so the illegitimate child born on 16 Sep 1766 still could be my ancestor Reinholt Rasmusson. Now maybe one day I'll discover who his father was (though I suspect it was probably Rasmus Reinholtsson, who lived in the same parish and was about 21 and unmarried at the time of Reinholt's birth).
