Titel: Gagnef housholdexam Melin ? - Translation help
Skrivet av: Eileen Cook skrivet 2010-09-29, 08:12
The family I am researching used the name Melin when they arrived in N. America. Could you tell me what the translation is above the 1st. name on this household exam. It almost looks like the word Melin is there. Perhaps it was a name change before leaving Sweden? Then at the far side of the page it looks like the family left for America in 1884? Thank you so much.

Hi Eileen,
As you can see above it is written: Uppgifves Kalla sig Melin (84 25/4)
Translated it will be: It is said, he calls himself - or - they call themselves  Melin.
The date is the same as the note of emigration.
Kind regards,
Olle Elm
