looking for emigration records for Alida Cecilia Peterson in 1894. She was born on 12 Dec 1875 in Helgona parish, Ostergotlund and when emigrated was working as a maid in Strya Aby parish. Thank you Pat

Sam and Margareta, thank you both so much. I don't know how I missed that when I checked the Ellis island records Margareta. And Sam I made a mistake when I said she was born in Helgona, I have some records that were sent to me that show she was born in Svanshals and the family moved to Helgona when she was about 2 years old.
Now I need to try to find out what happened to the siblings. The Father Johan died in 1888 and the Mother was sent to the poorhouse but there were still 5 children at home and I would love to know what happened to them. Can anyone help? Alida was my grandmother and she was very much admired by me. Too bad I wasn't into genealogy when she was alive. Thanks again Pat

Your grandmother had six sieblings;
Anna Mathilda b. 22/12 1874 in Svanhals
Frits Theodor b. 23/11 1877 in Allhelgona
Johan Axel b. 27/10 1879 in Allhelgona
Emil Fabian b. 18/1 1882 in Allhelgona
Maria Dorothea b. 16/1 1884 in Allhelgona
Carl Gustaf b. 15/4 1886 in Allhelgona
Hulda Sofia b. 17/10 1888 in Allhelgona and d. 21/2 1889 in Allhelgona
Their father Johan Kristofer Petersson died 2/12 1888 and Mathilda Andersdotter moved with five children to Poorhouse. The priest had written about Mathilda that she was poor and ill.
The oldest daughter Anna Mathilda moved somewhere else. I will look for her in Genline!
Johan and Mathilda was married 5/6 1873 when she was 23 years old and he was 46 years old.

I made a mistake with one of the children; the name should be Ernst Fabian and not Emil!
The maid Anna Mathilda Petersson moves from Fivelstad parish to North America 22/10 1892.
In the census 1900 Mathilda Andersdotter still lives in the Poorhouse with Ernst Fabian and Carl Gustaf. I found Frits Theodor as working man in parish Varv and Styra on the farm Nedre Götala Vestergård.

I have found one Anna M. Petersson born 1874 and got to Ellis Island 1892 but it's the wrong montht! You will have to investigate this!

Margareta, Thanks for looking that up on Ellis Island site. I will try to check it further for the date. I also want to acknowledge Olle Anderson for his earlier info on this family that he sent to me via e-mail. That helped me get started asking more questions. Thank you Olle. Pat
