According to the information I have, John Bodeen
(Jöns Bodin?) was born May 9, 1843 in Halsta(?), Sweden.
He married Carolyn Larsson, Murin, Västergötland
John was in the army and deserted. He may have
been part of a group that gave special service
to the king of Sweden. He emigrated to America in
1879 or 1880.
Carolyn emigrated to America with her six
children in 1881 or 1882.
The children were:
Augusta b. 9-9-1867 (female)
Albert b. Oct. 1869
Emma b. 4-4-1874
Frank b. 12-18-1876 or 12-28-1876
Charlie b. 11-27-1878 (Carl ?)
Alfred b. 9-29-1880

They lived in the parish Murum in Västergötland.
J. O. Bodin, 38 years old, emigrated May 6, 1881, going to Moline.
Rest of family followed some months later, they emigrated August 26, 1881.
Carolina Boden, 39 years old.
Augusta, 13
Johan, 11
Emma, 8
Frans, 4
Carl, 3
Alfred, 1
They were going to New Windsor.
Halsta is no doubt the parish Hällstad, which is on the southeastern border of Murum.
