One of my ancestors was Swedish.
Her name was Charlotte Beate (or Beate Charlotte) Militz.
She was daughter of Peter Militz and Marie Setterberg born 10 nov 1798
She married Adolphus Hay in Skalsjö (not far from Göteborg) and Nääs 16 aug 1817.
She died in Antwerp 24 dec 1859.
Peter Militz was born in 1752 or 1753.
Maria Setterberg was born 28 jan 1770.
Peter and Maria were married 18 may 1790.
Marie Setterberg was daughter of Jonas Setterberg and ??? Kymell.

Adolphus and Charlotte had 6 children
1- George born in Göteborg in 1818.
2- Françoise, Zoë, Jeanna, William and Eduard all born in Antwerp.

Adolphus, Charlotte and George came to Antwerp in (july?) 1818 where they remained.

Adolphus used to have a import-business and Charlotte was a real good portrait-painter.

George died in/near Köln (Germany)
William died in Mexico
All the others died in Antwerp.

There are no descendents of George, Zoë, Jeanna, Eduard.

I -and my cousin Dominique- would very much like to know more abaut our swedish family and ancestors.

Can you please help us.

Thank you.

As I have already answered directly to Armand Steenackers by mail, I have quite a lot of information about Peter Militz and his family, children by 1) Eva Maria Wetterling (not Westerling) and 2) Maria Margareta Setterberg. Militz was born in Ulricehamn in 1753, moved to Göteborg as a teenager, married into the Wetterling family and became a merchant. After prospering a few years in the early 1790-ties he went bankrupt and never regained means to work with trade. He died destitute in 1809. For anybody interested in this family I would be glad to provide more information and to receive some.
