My family is from Bohus Lan, they came to America in 1894 under the name 'von Reuterborg'.
The old people told the story, that the founder of the family was 'Field Marshall Reuter', a German officer who served in the army of Gustaf Adolphus in the 1630's.
He came to Sweden after the war, and Queen Christiana gave him lands on the island of Orust in Bohus Lan.
In 1966, as a young man, I visited Göteborg and met my cousins. They took me to Orust, to a churchyard where we found 'von Reuterborg' grave stones. The oldest was born about 1680.
I am looking for information about this man 'Reuter', to see if he was a real person.
This is for my grandson.

My family name now is Oberg,which is a new spelling of Åberg. That family came from St. Åby in the 1870's.
