Titel: Svea Matilda Johansson
Skrivet av: Greg Rosenvall skrivet 2023-01-16, 00:04
The first household record below shows Svea Matilda Johansson (birthdate 1896-10-08) with her mother Matilda Johanna f. Andersson.

The second household record below again shows Svea Matilda with her mother Matilda Andersson and it appears they move to Uppsala in 1927

The third household record below shows a Svea Matilda (Johansson) Djörke in Uppsala with the same birthdate.  Is this the same Svea Matilda in the previous two household records and if so, where does the name "Djörke" come from?

Any assistance most appreciated.

Thank you,
Greg

Yes, it is the same. She took that name in 1936 according to Uppsala domkyrkoförsamling (C) AIIaa:41 (1923-1940) Bild 4060 / sid 3808 (AID: v187093.b4060.s3808, NAD: SE/ULA/11632). But her two brothers took the same name already in 1916 according to Folkärna (W) AIIa:2d (1911-1921) Bild 1080 / sid 999 (AID: v183567.b1080.s999, NAD: SE/ULA/11247). They were probably the only persons that took that name, and I have seen a claim that there are only two now living persons with the name Djörke in Sweden. It could be a made up name (by her brothers) as I have not found anything else with that name in Sweden.

...as I have not found anything else with that name in Sweden.

There might be a connection to the village Djörkhyttan in Hedemora parish (which borders on Folkärna).

Djörk translated to English is "drunk".  If that is the case, I cannot imagine why anyone would want to add that to their name.

Where have you seen that translation? "Djörk" is not a Swedish word:

It's an "AI" -- it has no idea what it is doing, or why, or any real knowledge ...  8)

Of course - I should have guessed it was Google "translate"...  :)
