Titel: Help with a household exam
Skrivet av: Bradley Bystrom skrivet 2022-03-05, 23:27
Greetings,

I have found one of my ancestors listed at the end of the attached household exam (Skorpeds kyrkoarkiv, Husförhörslängder, SE/HLA/1010179/A I/4 (1840-1847), bildid: C0033452_00156, sida 139) under Prästgården. What is it? Does it have something to do with the church? I tried translating it to English and it comes up as "Presbytery". There is also something written at the top before the names of residents which I am unable to translate. What does it say?

Any help greatly appreciated.

-Brad

Prästgården = The Priest's farm or Rectory. First there is his family ending with his son Carl Samuel, the rest is hired people working with his family. The priest is Lars Isak Hellman and on the top someone has written "Herr Herr Herr Hellman Herr Hellman", maybe written by one of his kids. Is that the part you were unable to translate?

Greeting Leif,

Yes, that is the text I was unable to translate. It starts with "Comminister(?)" Herr Herr...

My ancestor appears here in this record and in the previous record covering the years 1838-1339 where it seems that there are only three hired people working for the family.

Well, all the people you see on that page were not working with this family at the same time, only three of them remained not crossed over when this volume ended in 1847, the rest had been there for some time and then moved somewhere else. Thus three seems a reasonable number of simultaneous workforce.
