Can anyone tell me if the circled word on the attached birth record is änka or änkling? I'd like to understand if it refers to the name Karing (before it) or or the name Nils (after it).

A bit of a long shot but I read it as 'Enckan Nila...'.
I take it on the strange 'a' in the writing on the line.

Thank you, Ulf!
Yes, it was confusing to me too. Because I thought it was strange for a widow to be name Nils! :) But, I also thought it odd to have the marital designation after the place name.
That could be used for Pernilla, then, correct?
Thanks so much!

Yes, Nilla/Nila is short form for Pernilla
