Titel: Need help with 1728 birth record

Attached is a 1728 birth record.   

It is for the child of Måns Jönsson in Warmsjö, Berga parish but the child is not named.  In comparing it with the surrounding birth records, it appears the wife's name is also listed.  However, I cannot tell what it is saying something about Jöns Persson's wife??? of same place (Wårmsjö).   Was she a witness or who was she?

Jöns Persson's wife carried the child to the baptize and you are right, the child's name is missing here.

The child's mother is not there?

I found 2 death records that I think are related to this birth record :

1. Johan Månsson 1728 death record, son of Måns Jönsson,  Wärmsjö, Berga parish, 8 days old.

2. The wife of Måns Jönsson was buried in Åby Södergård (Berga), named Anna Jönsdotter - it is in a different place in Berga, and I am not sure what the last three words are - looks like something about old age?? .....

Any help understanding if the three records are related would be very much appreciated.

The mother was never present at the baptize, she needed to do the "Churching of women"-ritual first. So some other woman had to carry the child, a family member, neigbour or just a friend to the family.
 
Seems like the right child, but wrong woman. She seems to be the wife of some other Måns Jönsson. The last words are "hennes ålder war..." her age was... but the number is missing. Perhaps the priest forgot to ask her husband.

Thank you so much for this information!   Can you believe that I didn't know that yet?  That is very interesting.

I agree with you about the wife not being the right woman.  I've since learned that the Måns Jönsson I'm researching would have only been 11 years old at that time!   :)

So, I'll continue looking for the right one.
