Titel: Need help with 1746 tax record for Slåttevrå in Vrå
Skrivet av: Victoria Cihla skrivet 2021-02-23, 20:34
The entry for Nils and Bengta on the attached tax record, indicates that they are mother and son.  It looks like it is saying that one of them is married.  Two people are being taxed if I read this correctly.  Who is married?  Is it the mother or the son?   It seems like it is the mother who is married, the son is not.

This is the difference between tax record and household record, it describes the tax the farm should pay not a wiew of the relations between the people living there.
It is the mother who is a hustru/Mrs (and most likely a widow) and the unmarried (dräng) son.

Thanks, Ulf!

I appreciate the clarification because it seemed that she would likely be widowed if she and her son were farming together, but it wasn't clear to me.

Very helpful, thanks again,

Vicki
