I am hoping someone could help me with a marriage record. It is for Erik ________ ? and Karin Carlsdotter, 21 Nov 1669. Odensvi, Kalmar SE/VALA/00288/C/1 Bild 33 Sida 46. Erik's surname is crossed out. Is the word after that his correct surname or is it a place name? Thank you very much for any help! This is a wonderful service that has rescued me in the past and I do appreciate it.

Thank you very much Calle! I had not encountered that surname before so it's no wonder I was completely stumped.

Hi Pamela,
It is a very uncommon name today. It is a very old Nordic name from medieval time. Normally spelled with double "t". Kettil. It means pot or helmet in English.
Best wishes,
Calle
