Hi,
I have a general question regarding step children.
Often we see a marriage where the mother or father brings with them children from a previous marriage or relationship.
Was there a general custom that these children were adopted?
If there was an adoption, would there be a legal record recording the adoption?
I know this can be a complicated subject.

I can only give a very general reply.
Before 1917 the modern concept of adoption didn't exist in swedish law.
I know it was very important that property division was done properly before a widow/widower could get mairried again. That to ensure the first bunch of kids heritage was correct.
I guess that a will could override the law.
