Thank you!

I guess that eliminates this Erik from being the soldier!   :)

That helps!

Thanks again,

Attached is another entry from the 1718 tax register.  This relates to the other question I have out on the 1717 tax register.  I believe it may be the soldier I'm trying to follow through the registers.

Can anyone tell me the name of the place in Dragaryd and also what is written above and before the name Erik?

Thank you for any help with this,

The first word is, as I read it; Landbog(ården). It is a farm in Drageryd village with a tenant = landbo.

Next; Sochen skomakare  Parish shoemaker.

Last is dräng, Farm hand

Thank you!

A question about the use of "parish" as in parish shoemaker or parish tailor - does that mean for the entire parish of Kånna or does refer specifically to the church?  This may seem like a stupid question, but I am looking for clarification because I am not sure how this works!

So, is this the same Erik that is listed in 1717? I am looking for a soldier named Erik in Dragaryd (Backstuga).  I've attached a copy of that record here also since I don't know if you've seen the question...

I think I was misreading this record thinking it mentioned a Bergqvist who was the soldier before Erik.  But, can you tell me if it is mentioning anything about being a soldier?

Thanks for your help with this!

There were limitations regarding craftmanship in the country parishes (towns were under other laws). So a given number of craftsmen (tailors, shoemakers etc.) worked within the borders of the parish. The parish administrated two worlds, the religious and the wordly.

I don't know the system deep enough to explain it in more details.

I guess it is the same Erik as in 1717.

I can't see anything about Erik being a soldier.

Thanks for this information!  Yes, I think this is not the soldier.  I have not been able to determine where he has been during whole time he was a soldier - I've only been able to find a couple mentions of Törnqvist during that entire time frame, not enough to establish anything with certainty!

Thanks for all your help and those who have helped!  I really appreciate it.
