Hello,
My Mother’s uncle was Johan August Lundgren. I know he was born in Sunne, Värmland, Sunne Parish in 1873. I don’t have the exact date. I am looking for information about his father, Gustav August Lundgren. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

He was born 1871 actually, june 30. And he was born out of wedlock, no father mentioned in the birth notice. How do you know what his fathers name was? He was raised by his grandparents and took the last name Lundgren when he moved away at 18 years of age. I can't find any Gustav August Lundgren in Värmland at that time.

Thank You So much for your quick reply! I have it noted that Gustav was born in Balstad in 1899, but my database, My Heritage, pointed out that Gustav’s date of birth isn’t correct with Johan being born in 1873. So what you have sounds correct. Is Balstad far from Sunne?

I don't even know where Balstad is but there seem to be a farm called Bålstad in the northwestern part of Värmland, quite some distance from Sunne. But it all sounds strange, with Gustav being born 28 years after his son?

It does sound very strange indeed. I found that John listed Gustav August and Carrie Nelson on his marrige certificate to my Great Aunt. Is there any details you can send me about John’s grandparents? That would be very helpful for today.

The very first birth on that page is Johan August, later Lundgren. His mother was Karin Olsdotter. She gave birth in Sunne, but did actually live in a place called Homsjön or Humsjön, in Mangskog parish.
