Titel: Help finding Pehr Tufvesson and family who left for North America in 1887
Skrivet av: George Lind skrivet 2018-03-31, 21:09
I am trying to locate my third great uncle Pehr Tufvesson after he came to North America from Sweden. He was born April 30 1835 in Holmby, Malmöhus, Sweden. The last records of him in Sweden are records of him leaving Hammarlunda, Sweden Aug 31 1887. It says he is leaving for North America. He left with his 5 children. His wife had passed away.
The children were as follows:
Christina Pehrsdotter January 26, 1869 Hammarlunda, Malmöhus, Sweden
Nils Pehrsson January 26, 1869 Hammarlunda, Malmöhus, Sweden
Janne Pehrsson July 09, 1871 Hammarlunda, Malmöhus, Sweden
Elin Pehrsdotter October 11, 1877 Hammarlunda, Malmöhus, Sweden
Johannes Pehrsson October 11 1877 Hammarlunda, Malmöhus, Sweden

Is there any way to find which ship they left for America on?  I have looked at the New York passenger listings for September 1878 and cannot find them.  Any help or advise would be appreciated.
Thanks,
George

I´m sure you mean September year 1887 (passenger listings) but perhaps go on with October.
Per Tufveson´s mother Karna Nilsdotter died August 25, 1893 and father Tufve Tykesson lived even longer (born 1812 in Holmby).
Maybe their "inventory of the deceased´s estate and chattels"  can give some information?
Kanske säger deras ev BOU något?

The children left September 8 from Malmö on the ship Gefion, Cunard Line:

Thank you both for your help and suggestions.

I see the record from Malmo.  It says they were going to Boston or New York.  Would this boat have taken them directly to America or would it go to England and then they would catch another boat.
