Hi,
I have an old foto of a man taken in Oskarström in Halland by Paulus Larsson. In the back of the foto is written by hand (perhaps my late father did) Kusti Kiminki. His given name may also be Kustaa Adolf Kiminki or Kiiminki ( with two i´s). He was born in Finland (Keuruu?) maybe around 1880-1890? and later on moved to Sweden. The foto is shown here in the data base no. 177757.
If anyone knows anything about him I would be very grateful!

When searching in the Swedish death index 1901-2013 I cannot find any person with the name Kiminki or Kiiminki born in Finland before 1900. So it seems as if he left Sweden (or changed his name). I have also searched in the censuses 1900 and 1910. Valitettavasti turha.

Thank you very much for your reply. He might have lived there some time and later moved to another country. I´ll keep on searching. :)

Kiiminki, isn´t it name of a Town? I thought the surname was perhaps Kusti/Kustaa but then I understand that Kusti Adolf in Finnish = Gustav Adolf in Swedish. So I guess he could be named Kiiminki....
There were a lot of foreigner working in Oskarström (parish name Enslöv). When could he have been there? Perhaps he could be found when moving in to Oskarström.

Yes, there are the place called Kiminki in Finland, but also Kiminki and Kiiminki are the familynames. He might have moved to Sweden after 1911 and I remember that my father got a letter from him from Sweden later on in his life maybe 1930-50? These figures may not be quite correct.
Is there any way to search the inmoving people files?

Now I have gone through all people with family names starting with the letter K in the parish records for Olofström, Slättåkra/Enslöv 1898-1929. No Kiminki/Kiiminki is to be found. Perhaps he used a name ending with -son instead or another family name. In any case it would be worth while to find his birth data in the Finnish church records. That might be a great help for further research.

Thank you again :) I will contact the church congregations in Imatra, Keuruu and Ruokolahti for start. This may take some time, I have to make on order for these information.

I went through church records (HISKI) and found one person named Kustaa Adof Kiiminki born 06.06.1890 in Keuruu. Could this be him? He also had two brothers Ruuno born 19.11.1888 and Kauno Ilmari born 09.06.1897.

It seems to be the right person. Gustaf Adolf Ihanto worked in Olofström in 1913:

For some time ago I got replies from Åke Carlsson to my question of my probable grandfather Gustaf Adolf Ihanto ( former Kiiminki), born 1890-06-06 in Finland. Can you or anyone to tell me if he had any descendants? I am going to have a DNA test taken to finally confirm my family connection.
