Thank you both for your input. You are probably correct. What looks like a J in other parts of the page does have an extra sweep on to the next letter that probably makes it a K. The handwriting is not bad, but maybe too fancy with extra sweeps and curls. It certainly looks like there is a uö that follows the K. could this be another case of an older spelling? At any rate I'll try that Kumla spelling and check the records> Thanks again, Harold Ek
