Hej! För tydlighetens skull kan jag säga att jag bara skickat jämna pengar, dvs 7 $, så problem med växeln har jag inte haft. Jag har bara hört positiva erfarenheter om att skicka kontanter, det var först sedan jag hört att det gick bra som jag gjorde det själv.
Du kanske ska försöka med money order - men det är väl dyrt tror jag - eller kreditkort. Men de tar i och för sig betalt även om de inte hittar personen (ansökan) du söker, fast de borde ju svara det i så fall. Jag kopierade detta på myndighetens hemsida. Jag har använt mitt kreditkort utan problem då jag beställt dödsattester.

You will be charged the cost of searching our records even if we are unable to locate any information on the person you are asking about. The fee for searching our records is $7 when the SSN is known and $16.50 when the number is unknown or is incorrect. The check or money order should be made payable to the Social Security Administration. We will also accept VISA, MasterCard, or Discover. Please include the appropriate credit card number, along with the expiration date of the credit card with your written request.
