Could someone please provide the meaning and/or origin of the soldier name Courant (Curant, Korant)? David Courant was a soldier at Aramo, Urshult parish beginning around 1792. He was born 4 August 1756--birthplace unknown.
I have read that a soldier's name was often connected to the place he lived; however, I have found no place-name that gives a clue as to where he was born.
