Hello Chuck,

Alexander Bjurström can be followed in the swedish church books from his birth. Many of these are available on internet for a fee, and I have here some copies of how he shows up.

First, his birth record in 1847:

Not a very clear picture, but it says he was born june 16, with parents Anders Jonsson and Eva Jönsdotter in Anderstorp at Västra Kulla, in Asby parish.

Alexanders father died Sept 2, 1853, leaving 10 children. Here the family is in the Asby census 1852-58 husförhör AI:18, page 79

Alexander stayed with his mother in Anterstorp to 1867, when he left för Säby parish. Here I was not able to follow him. He turns up ca 1870 in Askeryd parish as fresh soldier, living in Kärrboryd under Bjursberg. He married in 1873, but wife and twins died the same year.

In 1877 Bjursberg war administrativly moved to Västra Ryd parish. Alexander remarried in 1877 and in this last picture you see the family in the Västra Ryd census 1886-91 husförhör AI:18, page 249. A later census was not available on internet. This should be just before moving out to America.
